Discover DuPage: Top Indoor Family Fun Spots for Every Season

Hyper Kidz Play

When you move to the Midwest, one thing becomes clear fast: the weather has a mind of its own. From surprise snowfalls to steamy summer storms, you never quite know what the day will bring. But in DuPage County, families don’t have to worry—there’s no shortage of exciting indoor destinations ready to keep everyone entertained, no matter the forecast. From creative studios and action-packed play zones to educational experiences and immersive adventures, here are some of the top indoor family-friendly places to explore all year long.   As the founder of mykidlist.com, I’ve spent over a decade exploring the western suburbs with families in mind. Whether you have toddlers, school-aged kids, or tweens, here are some of our favorite places to explore.

DuPage Children’s Museum (Naperville)
A local favorite for young explorers! Kids can splash in the water exhibit, build with giant blocks, and experiment with art and science in hands-on galleries. It’s the perfect cure for cabin fever.

Local Glass Studio (Glen Ellyn)
Local Glass Studio offers a vibrant mix of hands-on creativity, community connection, and artistic inspiration, inviting visitors of all ages to explore the world of glass. From torch-fired flameworking and colorful fused glass projects to seasonal workshops, stained glass panel creation, and kid-friendly activities, there are countless ways to learn, play, and craft something beautiful.

Hyper Kidz (Wheaton)
This new space-themed play space is huge, with plenty of opportunities for every age to climb, slide, and explore. They just opened in November, so it’s the talk of the town.

Sky Zone (Elmhurst)
Wall-to-wall trampolines, foam pits, and dodgeball for endless energy. Perfect for elementary-aged kids and tweens needing to burn off cabin fever.

We Rock the Spectrum Kids Gym (Naperville)
This inclusive play gym offers swings, ziplines, and sensory-friendly fun for all children. It’s especially welcoming for families seeking adaptive experiences.

Tivoli Theatre & Tivoli Bowl (Downers Grove)
Make it a classic Downers Grove outing by pairing a movie at the beautifully restored Tivoli Theatre with a game or two at Tivoli Bowl just around the corner. It’s an easy, walkable combo that works for all ages and makes winter evenings feel fun and memorable.

Swim Central (Oak Brook)
The indoor leisure pool at Oak Brook Park District has a water slide that runs Friday evenings and weekends after 12pm as well as interactive water structure and vortex pool that are available during pool hours. It’s zero-depth entry and warm year round.
