Happy to have you!
WARM WELCOME
Welcome to the City of Las Cruces!
It is with great pleasure that I personally welcome you to the City of the Crosses.
Las Cruces is my hometown. In my lifetime I have seen Las Cruces grow from a small, quiet city to a vibrant and exciting urban area. With more than 111,000 residents – and still growing – our city is one of the 300 metropolitan areas in the U.S.
As mayor, I am humbled and excited to do everything and anything possible to continue to make Las Cruces one of New Mexico’s prize communities.
My priority as mayor is to stimulate job growth in Las Cruces, ensuring that residents have access to stable employment opportunities. I also want to improve quality of life and access to parks and recreational facilities to promote the well-being of families.
As a former firefighter and chief of the Las Cruces Fire Department, I am committed to enhancing public safety by collaborating with law enforcement, first responders, and our residents to make Las Cruces a safer place to live and work. As a former Assistant City Manager, I recognize the importance of economic development and will work to support local businesses, attract new investments, and create a thriving environment for entrepreneurs. Also, we will work together as a community to implement policies that reinforce community values and provide support systems to ensure a better quality of life for all residents.
My vision for Las Cruces is one of unity, progress, and community driven transformation. As you learn more about the good life and all of Las Cruces’ qualities, you will find that we are a welcoming community; the friendliness and hospitality of Las Crucens is second to none. We genuinely care for and rally behind each other.
Our motto for City government is “cariño,” which means “heart” and “caring” in English. We want to share and spread that “cariño” with everyone.
Our community’s greatest assets are our residents, business leaders, and our municipal government employees.
Our optimism for Las Cruces’ future is strong. We continue to adapt, overcome and thrive. We care about our elders, our neighbors, those who protect and care for us every day, and we care about YOU!
We are happy to have you here, Welcome!
