Giving Is In Season at Acrisure Arena

Since breaking ground in 2021, Acrisure Arena quickly beame an integral part of the Coachella Valley, serving as a vibrant hub for world-class sports and entertainment. The venue also evolved into community gathering space, strengthening local connections and making it a beloved destination for residents and visitors alike.

That’s the spirit behind The Season of Giving, which features a festive series of events and initiatives, including the One Valley Foundation and FIND Food Bank canned food drive. Now through December 20, the Foundation will support FIND Food Bank by collecting non-perishable food items at Arena events and at the Berger Foundation Iceplex. Those who donate will be entered into a raffle for exclusive prizes, with winners announced at the Firebirds’ December 31 game. This initiative encourages the community to give back and make a difference this holiday season.

“One Valley Foundation focuses on supporting our community year-round,” said Coachella Valley Firebirds’ Senior Director of Community Relations, Andrew Mason. “But the holidays are a perfect time of year to make an even greater impact. We know that many families in our community are simply focused on paying bills and putting food on the table. Our goal is to lessen that burden by alleviating food insecurity and bringing relief to communities in need.”

The holiday spirit continues on December 6 and 13, at the Berger Foundation Iceplex’s Winter Wonderland Skate events, where families can glide alongside Santa and Mrs. Claus. These festive skate sessions include holiday-themed games, a light show, House DJ, complimentary skate rental for guests who arrive in holiday attire. Guests are encouraged to make reservations early, as Winter Wonderland events sell out quickly.

“There’s something truly magical about ice skating with Santa and Mrs. Claus,” said Iceplex Vice President and General Manager Leslie Deason. “For two hours, families leave the desert and are transported to the North Pole. It’s one of those holiday memories kids of all ages will cherish for years.”

The Firebirds add holiday cheer with a series of themed holiday games. On December 20, fans can sport their best holiday sweaters for the annual Ugly Sweater Night, complete with photos with Santa and themed merchandise. December 28 brings the fan-favorite Teddy Bear Toss, where fans throw stuffed animals onto the ice after the Firebirds’ first goal to be donated to local charities. The New Year’s Eve game on December 31 caps off the year with a dazzling light-up wand giveaway for the first 8,500 fans, plus NYE-inspired treats and surprise experiences.

Wrapping up the holiday festivities, the Cactus Cup NCAA D1 Hockey Tournament on January 3 and 4 will feature top college teams competing in an exciting two-day tournament, perfect for sports fans of all ages.

“We’re delighted to bring the community together through these heartwarming events and experiences,” said John Page, Senior Vice President of Acrisure Arena. “This Season of Giving is all about sharing joy, building connections, and giving back.”
