Acrisure Arena and Berger Foundation Iceplex
Year-Round Community Events and Seasonal Highlights
Since opening, Acrisure Arena has quickly become a central part of Coachella Valley, not only for world-class sports and entertainment but as a dynamic space for community events and local engagement. Along with the Berger Foundation Iceplex, these venues host a wide range of activities throughout the year that support local causes, strengthen connections, and create lasting memories for residents and visitors alike.
Giving Back and Supporting Local Causes
The spirit of giving is an essential part of Acrisure Arena and Berger Iceplex’s mission, reflected in initiatives that run year-round, especially those benefiting community food drives and outreach programs. Through its One Valley Foundation, Acrisure Arena regularly partners with FIND Food Bank and other local charities to collect non-perishable food items at select events, including Coachella Valley Firebirds games. Attendees who donate are often entered into raffles for exclusive prizes, encouraging community members to give back and support families in need.
“We are dedicated to making a meaningful difference in Coachella Valley,” says Andrew Mason, Coachella Valley Firebirds’ Senior Director of Community Relations. “Our focus extends beyond the holidays, helping local families year-round.”
Festive Winter Wonderland Skates and Seasonal Cheer
During the holiday season, the Berger Foundation Iceplex transforms into a magical Winter Wonderland. Throughout December, families can enjoy themed skate sessions with Santa and Mrs. Claus, holiday games, light shows, and festive music, making it a holiday tradition in the desert. For those who arrive in holiday attire, complimentary skate rentals are offered.
“There’s something special about bringing winter festivities to the desert,” says Leslie Deason, Vice President and General Manager of the Iceplex. “Our Winter Wonderland events give families the chance to create joyful memories together.”
Community-Focused Events Year-Round
The Arena, Firebirds, and Iceplex offer more than just seasonal fun. The venues are committed to providing programs that enhance the community all year long. In addition to hockey games, the Iceplex hosts learn-to-skate classes, open skate sessions, and youth hockey leagues that bring kids and families together, helping to grow the sport in the area and provide a place for physical activity and skill development.
The Arena also regularly hosts themed Firebirds games, where fans can receive unique giveaways, meet local heroes, and support community causes. For example, the annual Teddy Bear Toss allows fans to throw stuffed animals onto the ice, which are then donated to children’s charities in the area. Other events, like Ugly Sweater Night, bring a festive touch to the games, making each outing unique.
Summer Camps, Clinics, and Recitals
During the summer, the Iceplex host camps, clinics, and recitals which give young athletes the opportunity to develop skills and build friendships. These programs often incorporate health and wellness education, providing a fun, enriching experience for kids of all ages, while promoting healthy living in the Coachella Valley.
NCAA Tournaments, Concerts, and More
Beyond sports and seasonal celebrations, Acrisure Arena hosts large-scale events such as NCAA tournaments, top-tier concerts, and comedy shows, bringing a diverse array of entertainment options to Coachella Valley. The annual Cactus Cup in January, for example, sees top NCAA hockey teams compete in an exciting tournament that draws sports fans from all over, while concerts and live performances ensure there is something for everyone to enjoy throughout the year.
Acrisure Arena and the Berger Foundation Iceplex remain dedicated to creating a space where the Coachella Valley can come together. Whether it’s supporting local charities, celebrating the seasons, or hosting family-friendly events, the venues have become an essential part of the community fabric.
