Let’s Eat!
Dining in Coachella Valley with James Suer, The Desert’s Favorite Foodie
The Coachella Valley food scene is as diverse and vibrant as the desert itself. From longtime local favorites to new, trend-forward concepts, there’s no shortage of incredible places to eat across the valley. Having spent over two decades in the restaurant industry here, I’ve seen firsthand how the food scene has evolved—growing into a destination for everything from elevated dining to hidden gems worth seeking out.
What makes this area special isn’t just the food—it’s the people and small businesses behind it. Whether you’re grabbing brunch in Palm Springs, enjoying tacos in Indio, or discovering a new cocktail spot in La Quinta, every experience tells a story. I’m excited to share some of my go-to spots and local favorites that truly capture the flavor of the Coachella Valley.

This is hands down one of my favorite restaurants in the Coachella Valley. Family-owned and operated, they make their pastas fresh in house along with all of their sauces. The dining room is small, so try to call ahead, but this is some of the best food the Coachella Valley has to offer. Be sure to order the Calamari to start, and my favorite dish is the White Bolognese.
If you’re looking for a sweet treat, this is your place! Ice cream and donuts both made with the highest-quality ingredients DAILY! No syrups or artificial sweeteners here - everything is made from scratch! A super fun ice cream parlor with something for everyone.

MEET JAMES SUER, THE DESERT’S FAVORITE FOODIE
I’ve called the Coachella Valley home since 2000, and spent over 25 years in the restaurant industry, managing local spots and developing a deep appreciation for great food and the people behind it. Today, I’ve brought that passion into my real estate career and my HOMEmade brand—where food, home, and community come together.
What started as a love for discovering great places to eat has grown into sharing my favorite restaurants, hidden gems, and can’t-miss experiences across the desert—connecting with a strong local following that turns to me for trusted recommendations.
Through my Instagram (@james_suer_realtor_), I highlight new restaurants opening in the Coachella Valley and everything from casual eats to standout dining experiences, giving people an authentic look at where to go and what’s worth trying. My audience follows along for honest recommendations, local insight, and a genuine passion for supporting small businesses throughout the Coachella Valley.
When I’m not out exploring the food scene, I’m in my own kitchen creating and sharing my HOMEmade chips and salsas—something many in the community have come to know me for. I bring that same passion into my open houses, where you can always find my HOMEmade chips, salsas, and sometimes even tacos! I also love to partner with local small businesses at my open houses to showcase their food—creating a unique experience that brings people together through food and community.
