Westerville. It’s Just Right.

D.H. Budd’s Cornet Band (Bands and Buggies) – David H. Budd had many interests including buggies (transportation) and music. This was one of the bands in the late 1800s that would play at fairs, parades and special events. This location later became the site of Schneider’s Bakery.

Westerville has grown since 1809 to become central Ohio’s largest suburb, however, it has still maintained its small-town feel, while preserving its physical and cultural past. Residents consider the city’s charm and historic Uptown District among their favorite community attributes. As the city continues to develop, Westerville has excellent resources to gain appreciation of the past to better understand the present.

The Westerville History Center and Museum provides access to the past through historical collections and learning experiences that deepen the understanding of our community and its place in the world. Westerville’s Underground Railroad activities and anti-alcohol efforts shaped the course of American history and gave the community a unique legacy.

The photos in this guide are just a few examples. There is so much to learn! You can even learn while you walk the town, using your phone or an iPad.
