Eat Like a Local

If the way to the heart is through the stomach, then Minot is surely going to satisfy both! The Magic City’s cuisine scene is filled with locally owned restaurants for diners who crave something unique — but there’s plenty of familiar fare at favorite chains if you’re seeking comfort food. From classy to quirky and everything in between, we know you'll love these local favorites.

10 North Main
For a classy dining experience, look no further than 10 North Main. They offer an amazing selection of entrées and tapas, as well as craft cocktails. Sophisticated dishes like hand-cut steaks, pheasant strips, and cheesecakes are enhanced by an environment of eclectic artwork and bright pops of color! The Silhouette Room lounge overlooks the dining room, making a great date-night spot.

Big Time Bistro
Prefer to stay in tonight? Big Time Bistro serves up gourmet-inspired sandwiches to go! Formerly a brick-and-mortar favorite in Minot, BTB now serves the area as a ghost kitchen, meaning food is only available by delivery. The homemade chips and hearty sandwiches make for a killer late-night meal (we’d recommend the Left-Hander).

Charlie’s Main Street Café
Charlie’s, one of Minot’s oldest restaurants, is located in the heart of downtown Minot. This classic American diner serves breakfast and lunch. Try their acclaimed hot beef sandwich, or come in early for a massive caramel roll!

Ebeneezer’s Eatery and Irish Pub
Slainte! Toast to your health (and your rumbling stomach) at Minot’s favorite pub. The menu is intermingled with local favorites like “The Fat Frog” and authentic Irish dishes. Check out local musicians performing live music in the pub six days a week!

Elevation
Enjoy dinner and a view at this restaurant overlooking the Minot Country Club! Elevation strives to provide a high-class dining experience for all three meals of the day. Customize your brunch drinks with their Build-Your-Own Bloody Mary/Caesar bar.

Magic City Hoagies
The best word to describe Magic City Hoagies is “quality.” Every sub is packed with fresh-cut deli meats, veggies, and cheese, all inside freshly baked bread. This restaurant is locally owned, and they pay tribute to our city with sandwich names like “The Magic City Sub.”

Mi Mexico
Mi Mexico has become a Minot icon. It’s family-owned and -operated — and much-beloved in town! They serve authentic Mexican cuisine (and don’t miss the daily lunch specials). This restaurant provides lots of space for large group gatherings and a fun overall atmosphere.

Minot’s Daily Bread
This adorable café serves elegant pastries, delicious breads, and mouth-watering crepes. A local favorite there is the "Cruffin" (croissant muffin). But if you want one you'll have to get there early or they'll be gone! So, go grab a cup of coffee, and pretend you’re at a French bistro.

ND Asia
When you’re in the mood for dinner and a show, head to ND Asia’s hibachi grill. The freshest food meets an entertaining dining experience, not to mention excellent sushi. The dimmed lights and skilled chefs will make any meal a memorable experience.

Prairie Sky Breads
This bakery began as a bread stand at the farmers' market and recently expanded into a full-blown establishment serving sandwiches, drinks, and loaves baked fresh every morning. Enjoy a street-level view of downtown through their massive sunny windows.

Schatz Crossroads Truck Stop
Those who’ve grown up in Minot know that this unassuming restaurant is a true hidden gem. The truck stop is known for speedy service, a casual dining atmosphere, and some of the best pie in town. Sit down and enjoy a meal, or just stop by to grab a take-home slice of pie (or a giant scotcheroo).

Souris River Brewing
SRB sources local ingredients to make meals that are not only fresh but unique. Want to taste bison? Go here. This cozy brewery has perfected its menu, focusing on simple, well-crafted dishes with homemade touches.

The Starving Rooster
The Starving Rooster is housed in a building from 1919, originally a tractor company. They’ve repurposed almost all of the original materials in the building, giving this small-town restaurant an industrial, metropolitan feel. Their wood-fired pizza is a customer favorite — and don’t miss the Sunday brunch or the $4 pints of ND brews on Tuesdays.

Try Thai
Formerly a food truck, Try Thai has converted to a colorful indoor space — but thankfully, nothing else about their delicious menu has changed! They serve up authentic Thai food, and you can customize the heat level of each dish. Boba tea, chicken drenched in tasty peanut sauce, and steamed dumplings will make your mouth water.

CRAVING SOMETHING SPECIFIC?
If we listed all of the restaurants in town, you’d go hungry just trying to get through them all, much less actually deciding where to go! So we narrowed things down to a few local favorites, and we hope that you’ll go check them out when your cravings hit...
