Delicious food, huge portions, at a decent price by some seriously hard-working folks, on wood-burning BBQ pits. Only open three days a week, the line tells all! Worth the wait to get in, but there’s also a drive-through. Basic BBQ joint menu with minimal options, but what is done is done right! The baked potato casserole seems to steal the spotlight. However, all the wood-smoked meats are tasty, tender, and tantalizing to the taste buds.

Have you found The Hidden Gem Diner? It is the last stop on FM 830/Cude Cemetery Road, before the public boat ramp. Located in the corner of Lake Conroe Food Mart/Texaco. Don’t be fooled by the location though. Real food, real people, real fun! It has fantastic, made-from-scratch daily specials which currently feature Chicken a La King, beef stroganoff, smothered pork chops, beef tips and rice, and chicken and dumplings. San Miguel is a fantastic, off-the-beaten-path Tex-Mex restaurant. It is owned by the Montoya family and managed by Alondra, who is super knowledgeable. They have fantastic service for favorites like fajitas, tacos, chalupas, enchiladas and a kids' menu. Another fun feature – it is happy hour there for seven days a week, from 11:00 am-6:00 pm. Caution though – they offer a 32-oz. margarita! Super muy delicioso and highly recommend!
